    KanaRx™ Directions for Use

    Before You Begin

    • Calculate true water volume (gallons or liters) as accurately as possible.
    • Increase aeration. Remove activated carbon and turn off UV/ozone during treatment.
    • Pre-dissolve powder in a container of pond/aquarium water and distribute evenly around high-flow areas.
    • Monitor fish closely and test water (ammonia, nitrite, pH, temperature) throughout treatment.

    Option 1 — Therapeutic Bath (Short, High-Intensity)

    • Dose: 100 mg/L (≈ 0.38 g per gallon; 379 g per 1,000 gallons).
    • Duration: 2 hours per day.
    • Frequency: Daily for 7 days, or up to 7 days beyond symptom relief as needed.
    • Notes: Provide strong aeration; return fish to the main system after each bath in clean, conditioned water.

    Option 2 — Whole-Pond Immersion (Standard Course)

    • Dose: 66 mg/L (≈ 0.25 g per gallon; 250 g per 1,000 gallons).
    • Schedule: Dose once every 3 days for a total of 3 treatments.
    • Water Changes: Perform a 50% water change between each treatment.

    Option 3 — Medicated Food (Supportive/Follow-up)

    • Mix Rate: 250–500 mg KanaRx™ per 100 g of food.
    • Feeding Guide: Target ≈ 50 mg KanaRx™ per kg fish body weight daily for 5–7 days.
    • Tips: Bind to food with a small amount of fish-safe oil or gelatin. Feed only what fish consume in a few minutes; remove uneaten food.

  • KanaRx Medicated Food Instructions

    KanaRx™ Medicated Food — Directions

    Materials

    • KanaRx™ powder
    • Regular fish food (pellets or gel food)
    • Binder: fish/krill oil (1–2% of food weight) or unflavored gelatin
    • Measuring spoons/scale, bowl, spoon, gloves, zip bags/containers

    Dosing Options

    A) Simple Fixed-Rate Mix (most ponds): Use 250–500 mg KanaRx™ per 100 g food for 5–7 days. The lower end suits ~2% biomass/day feeding; the higher end suits ~1% biomass/day.

    • 100 g food → 0.25–0.50 g KanaRx™
    • 250 g food → 0.63–1.25 g KanaRx™
    • 500 g food → 1.25–2.50 g KanaRx™

    B) Precise Weight-Based Mix (advanced): Target ≈ 50 mg/kg fish BW/day for 5–7 days.
Daily dose (mg) = 50 × biomass (kg). Then: Food concentration (mg/g) = Daily dose ÷ daily food (g).

    Method 1 — Oil-Bind

    1. Weigh food (e.g., 200 g pellets) and measure KanaRx™.
    2. Premix KanaRx™ with a little water; pour over pellets.
    3. Add fish/krill oil at 1–2% of food weight (2–4 g per 200 g).
    4. Mix thoroughly for even coating.
    5. Air-dry 12–24 hours at room temperature (avoid heat >95°F).
    6. Portion and store (see below).

    Method 2 — Gelatin-Bind

    1. Bloom 1–2 g gelatin per 100 g food in cool water; rest 5 minutes.
    2. Warm gently to dissolve (do not boil).
    3. Premix KanaRx™ with a little cool water; combine with lukewarm gelatin.
    4. Fold in food to light tack; spread thin on a tray.
    5. Set 1–2 hours, then air-dry up to 24 hours.
    6. Cut/portion and store.

    Feeding Schedule

    • Feed medicated food for 5–7 consecutive days.
    • Offer only what fish consume in a few minutes; remove uneaten food.
    • Maintain strong aeration and monitor ammonia, nitrite, pH, and temperature.

    Storage

    • Use fresh when possible. Refrigerate portions up to 3–5 days.
    • Freeze daily portions up to 3 months; thaw in the fridge before use.

    Do / Don’t

    • Do not combine with other medications in food unless advised by a qualified aquatic professional.
    • Do avoid overfeeding; remove uneaten food promptly.

    Required Safety Statements

    • Keep out of reach of children.
    • Not for use on fish intended for human consumption.
    • For ornamental fish use only.
  • Choosing Between NitroCure™, KoiCure™, and KanaRx™

    Q: How do NitroCure™, KoiCure™, and KanaRx™ differ?
A: All three are pure Aqua Meds antibiotic treatments, but they are used at different stages:

    • NitroCure™ (nitrofurazone) – First-line external bath treatment for most ulcers, fin rot, tail rot, and gill disease. Can be used as a dip, short-term bath, or long-term bath.
    • KoiCure™ (oxolinic acid) – Strong immersion treatment for more serious or persistent external infections, especially those with a gram-negative or septicemia appearance (red streaks, bloody patches).
    • KanaRx™ (kanamycin sulfate) – Deep, broad-spectrum antibiotic for severe, resistant, or internal infections. Can be used as a bath, pond immersion, or medicated food.

We do not recommend using them at full strength at the same time. Instead, they can be used sequentially (for example: start with NitroCure, step up to KoiCure if needed, and reserve KanaRx for the most advanced cases or internal infections).

Q: Which one should I use first?
A: As a simple rule of thumb:

    • For new, straightforward external infections, start with NitroCure™.
    • For more serious or persistent external infections, consider KoiCure™.
    • For severe, resistant, or clearly internal infections, or when you need medicated food, use KanaRx™.
